Who are we?
Who are we?
Early Impressions Childcare is a non-profit organization that has been a part of Johnsonville area since 1974, offering childcare and support to families.
We are licensed by the Ministry of Education and have a high level of qualified teachers to child ratio, ensuring your child gets quality care and education.
Our operational documents (annual and strategic plans, policies and procedures), annual audited accounts, teacher qualifications, the Education Regulations and Licensing Criteria, licence certificate and ERO report are all available for viewing.
Our programme follows the New Zealand Early Childhood curriculum “Te Whāriki” and aims to develop all aspects of your child’s learning and development.
We see ourselves as one of the first experiences of your child’s life being away from you and offer a nurturing and safe educational environment for them to socialize and have fun!

Our Philosophy
We believe in supporting, encouraging and guiding the well-being and growth of each child’s learning journey through:
-
Manaakitanga – Encourage others to feel at home, loved, supported and welcome at our place, offering a nurturing, inclusive, fun, and empowering place filled with aroha.
-
-
Ako – Fostering reciprocal teaching and learning between kaiako and tamariki. Everyone brings knowledge, ideas, and experiences, we learn from and teach each other.
-
-
Kaitiakitanga – Promoting guardianship, protection, preservation, and conservation. Encouraging respect and care for our environment, social, physical, and spiritual for future generations.
-
-
Tuakana/Teina – A mentoring system, where older or more experienced tuakana (child, cousin, sibling) help guide a younger or less experienced teina (child, cousin, sibling). These roles can be reversed as each expert in different areas.
-
-
Whanaungatanga – Guiding a sense of belonging and family connection through shared experiences, respectful relationships, teamwork, and responsibility within the community.
